2. Hosting and Server Log Files

This website runs on a self-managed server located in a data center of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. Hetzner acts solely as the infrastructure provider; your data is not transferred outside the European Union. The site is served exclusively over TLS-encrypted HTTPS.

When you visit this website, the web server automatically records the following data in server log files:

• IP address of the requesting device
• date and time of the request
• requested URL and HTTP status code
• amount of data transferred
• browser type, browser version, and operating system (user agent)
• referrer URL (the page from which you arrived)

This data is processed to deliver the website, to ensure its stability and security, and to detect and analyze technical problems and attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and reliable operation of the website). Log files are automatically deleted after 14 days. They are not merged with other data sources and are not used to identify individual visitors.

3. Contact by Email

If you contact me by email, your email address and the content of your message are stored to handle your request. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR if your request relates to a contract or pre-contractual measures, otherwise Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR. Your data is deleted once your request has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

4. Cookies and Third-Party Content

This website does not set cookies and does not load any resources from third-party servers. Fonts are served from this website's own server.

5. Visitor Statistics with Umami

To see how many people visit this website and which pages they read, I use Umami, an open-source analytics tool. I run it myself on the same server as this website, so the data stays in Germany and is not passed on to anyone. Umami does not set cookies and does not store anything on your device.

For each page view, Umami records the page, the page you came from, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, and your approximate location (country, region and city), which it derives from your IP address. Your IP address itself is not stored. The statistics are anonymous.

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in understanding how the website is used, in order to improve it). You can object at any time (Art. 21 GDPR) by writing to the email address above, or prevent the counting by blocking the script /u.js in your browser.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access the personal data stored about you and to its rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and portability (Art. 15 to 18 and 20 GDPR). Where processing is based on legitimate interest, you may object at any time (Art. 21 GDPR); to do so, contact me at the email address above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for me is Der Hamburgische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit (HmbBfDI): datenschutz-hamburg.de
